ST. GEORGE - Down by 15 entering halftime against Alta, Dixie coach Ryan Cuff told his players that the game could be worse.
Sadly for the Flyers, it did get worse in the second half.
The Hawks pulled away in the second half, completing a 65-41 victory over Dixie in the Ken Robinson Classic inside of Burns Arena Saturday.
"It was only 15 points and we thought we could come out with a little bit of fire and get ourselves to the foul line early," Dixie coach Ryan Cuff said. "It didn't go that way."
Alta shot 50 percent in the second half with a majority of its points coming in the paint, pulling away with a 18-9 third quarter.
"(Alta is) a fantastic team," Cuff said. "They had a game going inside and outside. We give them a lot of respect."
The Hawks outrebounded the Flyers 38-26, including a 16-7 advantage on the offensive end. Alta's crashing of the offensive boards resulted in 14 second chance points.
